Feburen contains Febuxostat, a selective xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor. It works by blocking the enzyme responsible for uric acid production, thereby lowering uric acid levels in the blood.
Feburen 40 is a medicine used to treat elevated uric acid levels in the blood in conditions such as gouty arthritis. Gouty arthritis is a common type of very painful arthritis caused by the deposition of uric acid in joints, causing sudden attacks of redness, swelling, pain, and heat.
Feburen 40 contains febuxostat as the active ingredient. It works by decreasing the formation of uric acid in the body. Before initiating the treatment with this medicine, inform your doctor about your complete medical history and if you are allergic to this medicine.

- Starting dose: 40 mg once daily
- If uric acid remains ≥6 mg/dL after 2 weeks: Increase to 80 mg once daily
- If uric acid still ≥6 mg/dL after 2-4 weeks on 80 mg: Increase to 120 mg once daily
- For Tumor Lysis Syndrome: 120 mg once daily, starting 2 days before chemotherapy and continuing for at least 7-9 days

✔️ Missed a Dose of Feburen 40
You should never miss a dose of your medicines. If you have missed any dose of the Feburen 40 tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
